Forensic InterviewsA Forensic Interview is conducted by an individual (usually Law Enforcement or a Child Protective Services Investigator) who is specially trained in the emotional, developmental, and psychological issues of children and adult victims of crime. The interviews are neutral, fact-finding assessments of the reported abuse to determine the safety and wellbeing of the victim. Interviews are videotaped in an effort to reduce retraumatization of the victim created by retelling their story. This same interview can then be used by all members of the multi-disciplinary team throughout the investigation.
Sexual Assault ExamsA Sexual Assault Exam is a forensic examination conducted by a specially trained S.A.N.E. (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) for the purpose of both collecting evidence and checking for injuries following a sexual assault.
